Fundraising is a fun experience and helps both the band and the student.
There will be several opportunities for students and families to help raise funds for the band and for the student. This year several of the fund raisers have a profit sharing component with the student. From the profit of some fundraisers a portion will go into the students account with the Band Boosters and can be used for band fees, band trip and other costs associated with the band. Money earned by the student in fundraisers cannot be returned to the student as cash. Money can be held on account from year to year. The Student can also designate money from their band account to be used for other students or other band projects or needs.
Panther's Concession Stand Fundraiser
This year the Piedmont Band boosters have the opportunity to raise $30-35,000 for the band. We are being considered for a concession stand at the Bank of America Stadium. This fundraiser will help to cover part of our $70,000 budget for the 2010 school year. We typically do 5-6 fundraisers a year to earn less than this one fundraiser will allow us to earn.
The difficult part in this fundraiser is the parent commitment. We do not want students working the concession stand, but they will be allowed if they are over 15 AND have a parent working with them. The reason we don’t want students working is that we will be cooking and serving alcohol. We have to provide 35 workers for 14 events. Most of the events (football games) will take place on Sundays, but there is the possibility of events on other nights of the week. Anyone working the games will be required to show up 4 hours prior to the start of the event and stay until the stand is clean and we are given the clearance to leave.
This is an AMAZING opportunity for the Piedmont Band program. We do fundraising each year to AVOID RAISING BAND FEES. If we don’t raise enough money we will be forced to cut back on the many things we do OR raise band fees. Fundraising is an essential part of our band program, without it our band CAN NOT function.
So what does this mean for you? We are asking you to give the band 2 days of your time, if you can’t commit to 2 days at least give us 1. We’re not asking you to give us more money, just your time. Parking at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Parking cars at Lowe's is a fundraiser that is supported by Athletics and Band. Due to the contest schedule we have a desperate need to get volunteers from the band (parents, siblings and relatives are welcome) to help park cars. Middle school families are welcomed and encouraged to come out and help. The money raised at event not only supports the High School band but is also used to support the Middle School Bands. Below is the parking schedule and how many volunteers are needed. Please see if this will fit into your schedule. Food and drink will be supplied as well as transportation to the Speedway. Opportunity - Consessions Consession sales are an important part of the band boosters fundraising efforts. All parents of band students are expected to assist in the consessions trailer. Check the schedule to see when your scheduled to help. The schedule is set by the instrument your student plays. please support the band by working in concessions and sales the game you are scheduled. Opportunity - Sponsorship Sponsorship program- Students and Parents are in a unique postion to act as sponsors or contact businesses that they are associated with to become a sponsor of the band. Piedmont band welcomes sponsors and has a program to identify those who sponsor the band by identifying them on equipment, web-site, web-links and even adding a page on the web site. The amount sponsored determines how the sponsor will be identified. Opportunity - Food Cards Link food store cards to the Band. One of the easiest ways to support the band is to get friends and family to link their food cards (Harris Teeter, Bi-Lo and Food Lion) to our Band. Once linked the band receives a small percentage of each purchase by someone linked to the band. This currenty brings the band hundreds of dollars each year. This has the opportunity though to bring in Thousands of dollars. Students can encourage friends and family to link their cards to help the band. No money earned from this fundraiser goes to student accounts. See the information below on how to link your cards to the band. Also information will be handed out at band camp about this fundraising opportunity. Harris Teeter Together in Education Option 1: Tell the cashier at Harris Teeter to link your VIC card to 1763 Option 2: click here to go to the VIC web link and enter the information yourself. A portion of the purchase price of every Harris Teeter branded item will go to the band. Be sure to pass the word...also sign up friends, neighbors, relatives...all can participate just by buying Harris Teeter branded product and linking your VIC card. Even if you have linked your card in the past, you must relink each year. What does this mean for the Band? Hopewell Band Boosters has 1,040 links and earned $3,631.00 Grimsley Band Boosters have 1,711 links and earned $3,343.00 Piedmont Band Boosters has 92 links and earned $176.00 ALL Band parents should try to get friends and relatives to Link their VIC card to the Band Boosters (1763). This is a constant income source for the Band. Please get this number to as many people as you can. Remember all they need to do is ask the cashier to link their VIC card when they are at the register. This does not prevent them from linking to other groups and it does not change links they currently have on their VIC card.
